Do You Have a Cold Or a Flu?

You may be asking, is there a difference? Both have a sneeze and a running nose. This may be it but, it does not mean that you have both. inappropriate diagnosis would lead to difficulties in getting the cure. This is because of you don;t know what you dealing with.

Here’s how to tell if you’re coping with a cold or fighting a flu

How similar are they?

  • Both influenza (flu) and the common cold are caused by a virus.
  • They take about a week or two to leave the human system. if it persists, seek special medical attention.
  • Both the flu and common cold are spread from person to person.
  • They both have similar symptoms such as congested nasal system.
  • They are both respiratory illnesses.

How different are they?

  • For a common cold, you will be able to do your normal duties such as go to work. However, this may not be a good idea since you will spread the cold to your colleagues and they will be on your neck for the sickness.
  • For influenza, you are not able to do much. You will have someone help around in getting your duties.
  • With the flu, your body aches almost everywhere. This makes you feel fatigued. High fever. You may experience nausea, vomiting or diarrhea

With these symptoms, you are in bed for a few days. The flu is more common in winter and early spring. In case you get seek on other seasons, it could probably be cold.

Flu spreads more quickly than a cold in a group of people like open office layout at once.  This implies that you have more people around you falling sick.

Once you know, the symptoms, you are able to identify whether it is a cold or flu.

Next time you catch a bug, be on the lookout for the symptoms and take the appropriate medications.Caroline

Pray for Las Vegas!

Hello Everybody,

I have held my opinion on the Las Vegas attack for a few days while trying to wrap my mind around what just happen. I hope all of my readers and fellow bloggers and their families are okay.

The thought of a retiree maliciously aim to kill people, boggles my mind and breaks my heart. I feel that the whole world needs an explanation for this massacre.

On the other hand, I may not understand what lead the 64-year-old to this point. Other than this particular shooting, there have been many other shootings. All these shootings seem to be gaining strength recently and it is scary. But am not here to defend him, I am more concerned about the victims and their families.

Some or most of the fans at the concert may be in dire need of mental health services. Depending on the intensity of the effects, their needs may differ. There are those fans who would require specialized psychiatrist while others will recuperate with the help and support from family and friends.

In addition to hurt and trauma faced by the victims (the people present at the Las Vegas shooting), the world is hurting too. In the midst of this hurt, anger and uncertainty are building and people are looking into ways to channel out these emotions. Some may be healthy and be of the common good while others may not be. Before jumping to conclusions, there’s need to wait until the facts are known before rushing to judge which would later lead to more harm than good.

Human beings are capable of both love and hate. Let us embrace the former, appreciate life and build of our togetherness as ONE, as human beings.

In the midst of this, I would like to say that;

If you are going through a hard time, taking a life is not the best option. Instead, speak to someone about it, and get help. Let’s not discriminate others based on what they are going through but embrace them and help them get better.

Despite the mode of intervention, they are suffering emotionally during to the horrific attack.  We can also take action on this attack and many others across the world. For those praying for Las Vegas, Nevada, thank you if you have not, I urge you to. You are not okay or comfortable praying, you can take action by being kind to others, spreading happiness, mercy, and peace around you. These are just examples, there is more you can do to make the world a better place.

Right now, we need to keep the victims, injured and their families and friends in our thoughts and prayers.

What you choose to do life is all dependent on your goals and means to achieve them. With the right choice of methods and goals, yields the right results. On the other hand, wring choice of techniques leads to wrong results.  All things that we do is directly or indirectly affect the goals we set. This implies that we are responsible for our own progress.

In line with being responsible for the excuses and lots of complaints. This basically shows that when you fall short of realizing your set objectives, most likely you begin to blame others. The excuses and complaints are as a result of frustrations of falling short of achieving your objectives. Playing the blame game does not resolve frustrations associated with failure or shortcoming.

Complaints and excuses move you backward but suggestions push you forward. Stop making more excuses than you give suggestions. You are your worst enemy; Quit complaining and begin moving forward.

Wish you all the best as you set goals and achieve them.

Great day ahead.

Namaste.

Get out of your own way of success

We all have dreams and aspirations in life, however, there are days that we may not be favoring this. On those, ‘low days’ one may experience negative feelings and emotions or behave contrary to the dreams. It is normal to feel down, which may obscure the process through which we achieve the dreams.

On a race track there may be stones, ideally, you shall skip or avoid the stones so that your running. After passing by these stones, running becomes easy and you will get to the finish line happy and fulfilled. You can all relate to this racing track in your life. In the same, the race track is your life and the stones are the feelings, behaviors. The ‘stones steer you away from or off the track.

Since the ‘stones’ are hindrances; devices methods to either get the stones out of your way or circumnavigate them. This way your pathway is clear and you shall move forward towards achieving your dreams and goals.

Get rid of all negative items, self-destructive behaviors and move toward to your race’s finish line.

Wish you all the best as you set goals and achieve them.

Great day ahead.

Namaste.

Quotes are interesting words that spark something us both from the author of the quote and audience or individual that reads it. On the blog here, we have had the dose of goodness which has motivated and inspired most of you to live healthier lives.

“Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.” – Frederick Douglass

When you learn to read, your mind is open to inquiry and you open your mind to the world of education. Once you are open to inquiry, you are more inclined to solve societal problems around and thus contribute positively the society. As you succeed in the quest to solve problems the community around you is ranked successful.

Another contribution of this quote is that I  think you tend to be free through education because you will want to know more. I also think that you are free in the education world since you get immersed in that field or content.

Every time I grab a book to read, I find joy as well as freedom. I would love to know what this quote means to you. Share your thoughts on this quote in the comments.

Why I Still Use Wet Wipes?

Firstly, what are they?
Generally, a wet wipe looks like a normal tissue however it is infused with some liquid that is used for cleaning purposes. Many water companies have associated them to sewer blockages. This is because they do not break down when flushed down the toilet.
However, I feel it is a necessity to always carry a pack in my bag every day. Here are 4 reasons why wet wipes are essential;

Sanitization and Hygiene
The spread of germs that cause sickness and ailments are more thus require us to pay more attention to our hygiene. Hygiene is not limited to bathing at least once a day.

Convenience
With a busy lifestyle, wet wipes are a convenient sanitization every day and keeping germs away.

Portability
They come in a friend and compact size which can fit in a bag/ purse. they can be packed for a travel, office or even used at home.

Gentle and Soft

Wet wipes offer complete sanitization; they gentle and soft on the skin, they clean out the dirt or germs and also the liquid on fiber dries up fast leaving your hands soft, clean and healthy.

For Babies
There are specific wet wipes that have been approved as baby care products. they are used for wiping the baby’s bottom more while changing the diapers; leaving them fresh, clean and soft.

I have been buying various brands of wet wipes. I use wet wipes on my hands, face even as a make remover and before and after meals. Wet wipes are not only for babies but for everyone. For your next grocery shopping, pick up a pack of wet wipes for yourself and family.

Advice
While buying wet wipes, be on the look for quality products. This is because low-quality products are available on the shelves which in turn may cause rashes and skin irritation especially for those with sensitive skin and also babies.

You may share your reservations on the use of wet wipes in the comment section.

A Dose of Goodness

Today is a bitter and sweet day; it is the 11th of September and it brings chills to my spine. It has been 16years since the tragic 9/11. On this day the tragic events led to the death of several people both physically, emotionally and mentally. This is the bitter truth concerning this particular day. It is during this time that many have lost property, loved ones and also those that have lost their lovely and caring pets due to the Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. This is heart breaking.

However, there is a sweet thing that emanates from this incident. Instead of crying and moaning of the befallen, let us celebrate the heroes. Those who lost their lives on this fateful day are living as heroes and heroines in our hearts. Let’s come together and honor heroes. Let’s talk about heroes in all of us. Let’s love and be kind to one another.

The bonding as a nation and the entire world after the tragic events of 9/11. This bonding has become the basis of kindness and love for one another. It is not about how hard you fall, but how smart you get up and remain standing. 9/11 is not all about the events that happened in the US but we all have experienced those down moments that may or may not have been similar to this (9/11). let us dust off ourselves and triumph and remain standing. Let us uplift, love and be kind to one another.

Namaste.

Mental Health

While living a healthier lifestyle, food and exercise have a role to play. Most people ignore the importance of mental health. In this posts, I shall be shedding light on what mental health entails, importances and tips on have been healthy mentally.

What is mental health?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health is a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.

Mental health includes our emotional, social and psychological well being. mental health problems occur as a result of imbalances in the either emotional, social and psychological well being. in the incident of a headache, we are quick to a pain killer without taking a deep thought of the why. At times, a headache is a symptom as opposed to it being the real problem. for example, having an abrupt headache can be associated with a hit on the head or prolonged stress. the later touches on mental health.

Signs and Symptoms of Mental Health Problems

  • Racing heart beat
  • Lack of motivation
  • Feeling really down
  • Lack of self-esteem
  • Unable to sleep or insomnia
  • Difficult breathing
  • Over worrying
  • Racing thoughts *at times irrelevant

In addition to other health issues, mental health needs to be aired more than it does. people should also be aware of Stigma against mental health problems and stop the stigmatization.
Mental health is just as important as physical health.

The greatest gift you can give someone is the gift of the interested listener.

Listening is one of the soft skills that may not be taught but developed over time. Otherwise, we may become poor listeners. Listening is a great skill to learn and
Here a few items to note while listening, really listen to one another:

  • Listening to people brings out your love and concern for them.
  • Giving one your time, you give them a portion your life.
  • A listening eye is an act of kindness. Make kindness your lifestyle and not a time show.

Friendship isn’t a big thing, it’s a million little things such as listening.

Learn to be an amazing listener.
